Word Game

Guess a random word from its definition. A game for the true word nerd.

Why Word Game?

I’m not really a gamer, but I do enjoy simple, casual games. Making my own games has been something I’ve wanted to do since my days at PopCap. Coming up with an idea, designing it, and then building it is a good challenge.

The ultimate goal is to release Word Game for Apple TV, leveraging the Siri Remote’s voice recognition. But there’s a lot to do. The basic functionality is in place, but I plan to add levels, achievements, and maybe a couple different modes.

The user must guess the word, one letter at a time, from its definition in the given amount of attempts. It’s really as simple as that.

Each word comes with one freebie letter. Selecting * reveals a random character in the secret word. If they give up, will skip to the next word.

When a player guesses the word, they’re given 10 points for each unique letter in the secret word, 5 points for each remaining attempt, and 5 points if their freebie went unused.
